STEM Grant Program

Science - Technology - Engineering - Math

The Optimist Club of Huntsville has initiated a program to further STEM education in the schools of Huntsville and Madison County. Our Club has budgeted a total of $16,000 for this purpose, with the individual award maximum per school of $1,000. The STEM Committee will determine the size and amount of the awards based on the entries received. The competition is again expected to be fierce this year, so get your applications in early and ahead of the deadline.

Beginning in early October, 2024, we will be accepting applications for grants from classes or clubs engaged in STEM education or educational projects. We are placing few restrictions on the intended use of the grants, so long as STEM education is the focus. We will consider such proposed uses as hardware, software, books, and travel expenses.

The application form link will be available in early October, 2024.

The STEM Committee will make its initial selections based entirely on the application submitted. Once selected, we will ask the finalists to make a presentation to the STEM Committee and then we will make the final decisions. We believe this will be beneficial to the students as well as providing an opportunity for the committee to better evaluate the intended use of the grant.

We are readily available to answer any questions you may have on this program. Please contact Tom Rumph, our STEM Committee Chairman at stem@hsvoptimists.org by e-mail if you need further information.
